"Return to me," declares the Lord Almighty, "and I will return to you." Zechariah 1:3
Ordinary is where we all begin. Before God we are His children, made in His image. He just loves us, the way we love a beautiful garden, a homemade meal, or being with the people closest to us. From that ordinary love, we move in love for those around us and for our patches.
Gather
Friends from our four networks are gathering in one room. Bring someone with you, so the effect ripples out. Randi Brewer will lead us in worship, and I'll guide the evening. Jesus prayed that we would be one (John 17:21). Worshipping God together is our yes to that prayer.
Remember
Oxfordshire has seen what God does with ordinary people. The Lollards put Scripture into their hands, in their own language. Centuries later, a few Oxford students met to pray and were mocked as the "Holy Club". That small group seeded the Methodist revival.
God is still at work. Everyone will have a chance to share one short story of what He's doing in us, through us, and around us. Stories encourage us when we're low, or steadfast and unsure it's making a difference. They also show us how creatively God moves.
Return
We return to Him in prayer. We'll hold the National Week of Prayer guide loosely and listen to the Holy Spirit, praying for Oxfordshire, for our patches, and for the people God puts on our hearts. Some of us will pray for the nation too. Small prayers and large ones both belong.
We'll also pray for one another: that we would steward what He's given us, keep our life with His, flourish, and help others follow the way of Jesus.
